WCS SAT: validating the installed system

Site Acceptance Test for real interfaces, identification, routes, exceptions and integrated performance.

Validate beyond the laboratory

SAT verifies the installed integrated system against an agreed protocol. Reuse FAT traceability without assuming an emulator is equivalent to actual equipment, sensors or operating conditions.

Check versions, addresses, maps and parameters before testing. Record the tested configuration so acceptance is not attributed to a combination changed afterward.

Progress from components to flow

Verify communication and identification, then transfers and complete routes. Increase volume and variety with explicit progression criteria. Machine-safety testing belongs to qualified responsible teams and its specific plan; WCS SAT does not replace it.

Use representative dimensions, labels and handling characteristics. Perfect demonstration cartons can hide production problems. Validate manual removal and correction procedures because they change tracked physical state.

Performance under stated conditions

Define duration, mix, destination availability and counting rules. Distinguish induction from useful deliveries and record recirculation. A brief peak does not establish sustained capacity; external stops must remain visible in the report.

Observe queues and post-blockage recovery. Acceptance includes integrity and stability, not just rate. Agree how invalid preconditions trigger exclusions or retesting.

Worked route test

Identify a load, divert it and confirm delivery. Block the outlet before the decision point and verify the specified exception destination. Introduce a controlled no-read and check that no incorrect identity is assigned.

Evidence combines identifiers, events, physical observation and WMS state. Deviations become owned, prioritized issues. SAT closes when agreed criteria and blockers are resolved, not merely when every step has been attempted.

Project verification criteria

  • Confirm the installed configuration matches the tested version.
  • Validate routes and exceptions with representative loads.
  • Measure useful deliveries and stability for the agreed duration.

Examples describe engineering decisions and test scenarios. Implemented interfaces, limits and features are defined by each project’s scope.
